Often our tendency to over-commit comes from a shadow. It comes from a need to prove that we are smart enough, worthy enough, successful enough, to please others or obtain validation and approval from the outside world. ~The Ford Institute
The most successful people in our world are over committed to a particular area of their lives, it is not motivated by their creative passions, but by their passion to make a distant (or not so distant) trauma right and better. They are passionate about thoroughly suppressing their shadow, so that they may finally believe that it is no longer a part of who they are — they are wrong though. They can never run from their shadow, and neither can we; we can either split further apart, or embrace, remember , and integrate — ourselves.
