“Buddha says if you have compassion without awareness, your compassion will be harmful. Do-gooders are the most mischievous people in the world. They don’t know what they are doing, but they are always doing something or other to help people.” ~Osho
Equality, in any fashion, is compassionate do-gooding that lacks awareness, it doesn’t go far enough into asking why the problem exists in the first place, which makes it an unsatisfying “how to fix the problem” solution. However, looking into the roots of the problem, going as deep as needed without allowing yourself to disassociate from the shock and horror of what you might find, is needed. Awareness starts within, and works its way out, it doesn’t start outside and force its way in; if you cannot be aware of your own feelings, their roots, your emotional patterns, then you will never be aware enough in your compassion – you’re, what Osho and the Buddha call, “harmful” and “mischievous”.
Equality is a shallow answer to a shallow question; ask a deeper, more conscious question, and you’ll receive a more satisfying answer.
